The role of CPH City & Port Development
All in all, the areas in Nordhavnen comprise about two million square metres and are owned by the CPH City & Port Development.
The City Ring agreement opens for the urban development of 400,000 floor square metres in Nordhavnen in the first phase (the Århusgade district). The development will be a mixture of flats, offices, shops and cultural buildings.
As site owner, it is the task of the CPH City & Port Development to initiate and take responsibility for urban development, in close cooperation with the City of Copenhagen. And it is the task of the City of Copenhagen as the planning authority to work out the planning foundation that makes urban development possible.
The development of new city quarters is a complex process from planning to building. Copenhagen is about to get a completely new neighbourhood. This quarter will be the basis of the lives and the careers for many people in the future, all while the city is constantly changing. Therefore, it is the overall objective of the CPH City & Port Development to develop new tools and set new standards for the development of rural areas which are both up to date and in accordance with both the planning of the City and with the business strategy of the company.
