The Green City

In Nordhavnen you will find a variation of green zones. There is always a green area just around the corner: from local pocket parks, promenades and green urban spaces to open coastal expanses, beaches and large scenic areas.

The trees, bushes, and plant will comprise Danish species as they are robust and resilient to climate change. The various neighbourhoods in Nordhavnen will be connected with each other and with the rest of Copenhagen by a green loop, which will incorporate the metro and an express bicycle route.

Education, sports, trade and cultural facilities are vital to the urban structure and will help make urban life better. They will be located at places of intersection with the loop, where there is easy access and many people passing. The vision for Nordhavnen is to build a city on nature’s own principles. Environmentally, a compact city that is energy efficient, but also a green city to play and live in.
